This video I saw today online gave the US Coast Guard Auxiliary the spotlight and showed the whole world what the US Coast Guard Auxiliary dose. What happened in the video was that they were making an emergency landing because the landing gear would not hold. They made an Emergency Landing at Air station Miami and the Auxiliary Air crew survived the landing.
That is so wrong and so sad that these kids are reduced to using MRE’s or Humanitarian rations as foot wear. I think someone should start a drive to get these kids Used sandals and teach them how to make sandals from old tires. Those kids not only need food and clothing, they need foot wear and at the very least sandals and flip flops as well. Though I have to say one thing, those kids are very intuituve on protecting their feet and at the very least, some one should send them some sandals for those kids.
Okay today was the last day I’m at the house and I’m on my way back to college from a long winter break. I think 5 weeks was way too long of a winter break and 4 weeks would have been okay. So now I’m packing my stuff to head back on Campus and getting my books I need for class as well. I started packing my stuff and started to plan on what I am doing this spring semester. On top of that, This spring semester is my make or break for me because i have to come up with some decent grades and at least pass all my classes with a C – or above. I also have to study my ass off and yes I have to make some block scheduling in my study as well. Even though I like to play Modern Warfare online alot and after class, I have to stop playing that and only play on Fridays and the weekends. As far as doing any Youtube videos or such, that will largely depend upon my schedule and how much free time I have. This semester I am looking at changing my major from Nursing to Public health as a way of getting into Medical school or Physician Assistant school. So tomorrow for me is going to be a very long and very busy day for me and I pretty much won’t have any free time until tomorrow evening when I am settled down and settled into the College routine.
Okay, I hadn’t blogged in a while because I was busy moving into a new house and finally in 33 yrs I moved out of New Britain and I moved to an undisclosed location. So when I get back to campus, I can say that all I did was moved from a city to a small suburban town. It’s a change from living in an urban city to a suburban town and I like where I am living right now, though I miss having acces to a localtrain station and the conveniences that I would normally find in the city.
I also have two weeks left in my vacation and I am now switching gears from vacation back to college mode. My one mistake I made in the last semester was that I didn’t drop a class that I wasn’t doing well in and now it’s affecting my grades and now this semester I learned my lesson. Which is every mid semester, if I am not doing very well I am going to immediately drop that class and retake it in the summer. Now I am looking forward to go to college year round and that includes the summer session as well. I just hope to graduate from college in 3 years instead of 4 years.
Anyway as far as the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, some recent developments have come about. In my 5 years of with the Auxiliary. I am now being appointed as Flotilla Staff officer- Secretary/Records. Which means for a young guy like me in the Auxiliary, I have to step it up and step up the plate for leadership. Which means I have to prove to myself, my flotilla and my whole district that I can be an FSO in the Auxiliary and I can do the job they asked me to do. I also think it’s a first for me because, not only am I going to be the first Auxiliary FSO who is deaf in one ear and who is born with an intersexmedical condition as well. So I am excited about the position that I am getting into and I hope to learn alot and learn to do the job that the Auxiliary gives me. This is also on top of my Marine safety and environmental protection training as well and working towards getting trident qualified as well.
Okay, a new year and a decade down. So at least I survived the 1st 10 years of 2000 and looking forward to another decade at least. So for the new year, I’m looking forward to ever changing year and things looking up for me. I knew 2009 was a good year for me and things were looking all up and 2009 was a year of changes that I saw happening to me. Such as transferring from the community college to a 4 year university. The unexpected thing that happened was when a girlfriend by the name of Alexis walked into my life and now I think that fulfills part of my life as well. Also in 2009, I finally moved my blog from blogger, which i didn’t like because I didn’t have any control to WordPress, which I finally have control of my blog. so for 2009 I had a pretty good year and things are looking good for me and I can look forward to more interesting things in 2010 as well.
So for 2010, I am looking forward to doing a lot of things as well. For 2010 with my main blog, I am looking at the idea of hosting my own blog and looking at moving my blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org and looking at buying my own domain and getting a company to host my blog. I am looking at moving on up in the blog world and I know blogger is mainly a beginners blog and WordPress is an intermediate to advance blog. So that’s why I’m intermediate enough to move from having my blog hosted on some site to having my blog hosted on my own site and having my own domain name. Which is why I am looking this year to having my own blog host and my own blog name.
Also for 2010, as far as academics and college is concern, I am going to focus on going to college year round. That means for my college goals, I am going to go to college year round and I am going to try and graduate college in 3 years instead of 4 or 5 years. My only breaks will be in August and in January. I am following the same path my younger brother did and he graduated in 3 years instead of 4 years. That means in my 3rd year, I can focus on going to Physician Assistant school or medical school. Instead of doing a 4th year at undergraduate university. That’s why I want to graduate early and at least start focusing on professional graduate school instead of being stuck in undergraduate school.
As far as looking for part time work, I am going to keep my eye out as well. Even though the economy is very tough and rough for finding work in light of the very bad economy in this country and it’s hitting harder for college students like me. So one of my goals as well is to look for part time work that can pay me while I am attending college full time. I am going to keep looking while I am in college and hope to land one by the end of the year at least. At least with a part time work, I can use the money to help pay down the cost of college.
As far as for my Auxiliary work, one of my main goals is by the end of the year is to get qualified in Marine safety and environmental protection. Work towards my Trident pin including getting all my ICS certs done and getting my MSEP ribbon by the end of the year. That way I can start working towards my trident award and knock down those 96 hours a year required to get that Trident award. It’s one of those things I want to get done and get the ball rolling as well.
So anyway, I am going to look forward to a very busy and very active 2010 and look forward to having a lot of ground covered and a lot of work being done as well. I am looking forward to being very busy and very active and in 2010, I see a year of changes and moving forward instead of being stuck behind. So in 2010, I will try to have fun and at least enjoy my life in the process as well.
This is why I don’t volunteer for no fire department any more. If this video is any indication as to why, then this shows you why most people treat volunteer fire depts like they do on Animal house or like the elks social club. They treat their people like crap and you really have to wonder why volunteer fire departments are having a hard time attracting people to their ranks. This is a prime example of why people stay away from volunteering at their local volunteer firehouse if people are allowed to act like this. You really gotta wonder what were they thinking when they pulled that prank.
Ladies and gentlemen, let the Mass hysteria begin. This country is falling behind so badly in every form of security that it’s not even funny anymore. Heck, I feel much safer in Europe or even in Israel for that matter than I do in the US with Janet Napolitano at the Helm of DHS. At the going rate were at right now, every time a terrorist tries to attack this country or an airplane, we might as well be flying nude and this nation might as well start learning to fly nude if this keeps up. Just imagine that if this keeps up we may have to start flying nude and imagine sitting next to a fat 250 pound naked man.
Boy, you though the DHS motto under the Bush administration was “Heck’uva job Bronwnie!”. Now the new DHS motto under the Obama Administration at the hands of Janet Napolitano is “The system worked”. I sure like to know 3 question, What system, who’s running it and who was sleeping on guard duty when this crap happened, so we can get him or her out of the job and reassigned to guard duty at the Dog pound.
Here’s my suggestion to improve security in the US. Fire all the incompetent and inept people including Janet Napolitano. Second, pay the Israelis to overhaul our security system pay them to train DHS to use the Israeli security system. Third use the system that the IDF has in place where their soldiers are allowed to carry their rifles where ever they go even on US transportation systems. That means allowing our US soldiers, sailors, Airmen, marines and coasties carry their US issued rifles where ever they go. That way we don’t have a repeat of this fiasco.
Their is a Soldier in the Israeli Defense forces who has has a medical disability called Osteogenesis imperfecta and is serving in the Israeli military. This person by the name of Cpl. Idan Cohen is a clear example why disabled people can work in the military. If the US Military would simply take the lessons from the IDF and see how they do things and try to at least apply it in the US Military, think disabled people can serve in the US military as well. I think this is why the Israeli Defense forces are at the forefront of the Military and the IDF is leading the way and showing other militaries around the world that having disabled people in the service dose not hinder combat effectiveness and combat readiness. What these disabled soldiers do in the IDF is to free up able bodied people who can go into Combat jobs and Combat units while leaving all the non combat and combat service support jobs to those who have a disability.
The article in the Israeli Defense forces website clear shows that a solider with a medical disability can clearly serve in the Military and clearly fulfill his goals of serving in the military regardless of his disability. This is why I believe that the IDF is far more advance in letting people serve regardless if they have a disability or they are Gay. It clearly proves to the rest of the world’s military that having women, gays and disabled people in the service dose not hinder the job and it only makes the job easier and it gets the job done regardless of the person.
The only thing I have to say is that Cpl. Idan Cohen of the IDF would never be able to serve in the US Military with his disability because they would reject him automatically and the only place the US Military would send someone with a disability is either the US Coast GuardAuxiliary or the Civil Air Patrol. That’s why I think Cpl. Idan Cohen got it made when the the IDF lets him serve with his medical disability. I also believe this is why the US military should look to the IDF and see how they integrate Gays, women and people with disabilities into the Israeli defense forces and take a page or playbook from them. At least with the IDF, they can show other militaries around the world in how they integrated women, gays and those with a disability into the IDF and they seem to not have any problems with them.
I like the article and I think everyone with a disability should check it out and look to it as inspiration. I just hope that someday within my lifetime or my next life that the US Military looks to the IDF and apply’s what the IDF has done in terms of allowing those with a medical disability to serve in the military.
When Donald Trump speaks, I’ll bet my money that Rome will be listening to Donald Trump more than Hilliary Clinton. I think Donald trump should have been made either US Secretary of treasury or US Secretary of State. When I saw this blog that Donald Trump wrote about Amanda Knox, I bet everyone including Rome will be listening to what Mr Trump has to say.
The blog was very interesting to say the least because Donald Trump is calling for everyone to boycott Italy until they free Amanda Knox. I think Donald Trump should go to Italy and use his influences to Free Amanda Knox and demand that the Italian prosecutor that wrongly jailed her be sent to prison as well. The blog is very interesting to read and I would recommend everyone to read this blog.
It’s about time some Military force ditches Microsoft and goes for Open source programs such Mozilla Thunderbird and Mozilla Firefox. I guess this makes the French Military the first military in the world known to ditch Microsoft and go for Open source software. I think it’s a step in the right direction and I think that eventually other militaries around the world will look at dumping Bill Gates and go for open source software. Even for me personally, I am switching from Bill gates to Open source software such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Firefox and Open Office. My hope is that the US military dose the same thing and switch to Open source software instead of being chained to Bill Gates. So if the French Military can do it, I think the US Military should be doing it as well.
